Welcome to St. Rita School Pre-Kindergarten... a special place where happy, excited faces run up the ramp into school each day, ready for lots of learning.  Our school day includes religion, stories, science, language, math and art activities, gym, music, and especially playtime with classmates.  The children share classroom jobs, care for classroom pets and enjoy snack time together.  The Pre-Kindergarten Program at St. Rita School strives to provide all our children and families with "the best beginning possible"!

The weekly Religion Program in Pre-Kindergarten is Stories of God's Love, from RCL Benziger. The lessons and activities offer stories from the Bible and children's daily lives to introduce God and share the love of Jesus.  During January our lessons will focus on the boy Jesus and His life with Mary and Joseph.

The Pre-Kindergarten Word Wall is a valuable classroom tool for enhancing our language program.  Each week new words are added, associated with current units. Our unit on How Animals Get Ready for Winter added the word hibernation to our word wall and this month new words will include winter, snowflake, snowman, mittens, polar bear and penguin.

January begins the new year with lessons about the season of Winter.  Stories, classroom activities, art projects and some fun science experiments will teach about snow and ice.  The 3 Year Old classes will learn about jungle animals and the 4 Year Old classes will learn about animals that live in the Arctic.  New stories that will be read to the children include One Snowy Night, The Snowy Day and Snowflakes Fall.  The 4 Year Old classes will also take part in a multi-curricular unit on the Planets and Outer Space.  At the conclusion of the unit, students from Grade 2 will visit our classroom to share what they have learned about the sun, moon and stars.  Interacting with other grades is a highlight of our program.
